Zac Leffel- Peru Wrestling

We sat down with former TWO-TIME state qualifier from Peru and current Division 3 Trine Wrestler Zac Leffel:

Q: Tell us about your time here as a wrestler at Peru?

Zac: Best experience ever. It gave me the friends, values, and the life I have today. It's wild how wrestling can give you the absolute best feelings in the world, and at the same time the worst....but it's been worth every second. Trust me!

Q: What is your favorite memory from your time with Peru Wrestling?

Zac: I have tons and tons of good memories with the program and it's hard to pick a favorite. Going to camps where your growing program knocks off top notch wrestling teams around the area AND you get to see Elliot drink his own urine! Or putting 11 out of 14 weight classes in the sectional finals and 9 in the regional finals! How about beating Mac in '06 in the Tiger Den 52-25 when their coach told the media he felt they would match up against us well enough to win HAHAHAHAHA!

Q: If you could tell newcomers one thing that you wish you would have known
back then, what would it be?

Zac: It's not ok to lose to a blind kid....yeah. But definitely the offseason is crucial. One well spent offseason can lead to DRAMATIC changes, trust me, it happens. And it's not a time spent to watch your weight (and that doesn't mean get fat). Lift weights, get strong, and wrestle where you are competitive. Sucking weight doesn't equal a better wrestler.

Thanks Zac! Peru Wrestling is proud of the strides you have made on and off the mat. We look forward to watching you next year at Trine!
